Our services are competitively priced and we regularly discount certain products as part of our monthly special offers.

As previously stated we stock all types of wood flooring, including engineered bamboo flooring. If you're wondering what engineered flooring is we've listed its properties below:

* Engineered wood flooring is real wood (unlike laminate flooring)
* Engineered wood is a sandwich of 1/16" to 1/8" of finished wood on top and unfinished plywood underneath.
* Additional floor strength is gained by laying the plywood layer cross-ways to the top layer.
* Engineered wood floors can be sanded 1-3 times in their lifetime, allowing scratches and stains to be removed. This should be performed by professionals to avoid causing irreparable damage.
* Although engineered flooring is more expensive than laminate flooring it lasts longer thanks to the ability to rejuvenate the surface with sanding.

Engineered wood flooring is available in different species, such as oak, bamboo, maple and more. Engineered bamboo flooring is relatively cheap is the environmentally friendly option. Call The Ultimate Flooring Company, London today on 020 8948 5611 to discuss your flooring needs, we are always happy to help.

Unfinished Oak Flooring

As it's name suggests, unfinished oak flooring is hardwood flooring sold without having had a finish applied to it in the factory. This allows the recipient to choose the stain or colour which best suits the decor and style of the house where the flooring is to be laid. However there are different types of unfinished oak flooring and, therefore, still choices to be made which need to be carefully considered to ensure the desired effect is achieved.

Unfinished oak flooring is available in white oak or red oak; with both species having different qualities in respect to the grain and the cut, as well as differences in the tones and hues in the grain. So it is important to look at samples of each and considering the room in which the floor is being installed before making your choice.

As for whether you should choose unfinished oak flooring or finished flooring here is a list of where unfinished flooring differs from pre-finished which should help:

Unfinished oak flooring

* can custom stain floor to match room/decor
* must apply finish on job site
* no UV cured urethane finish
* usually takes several days or a week to lay floor
* must wait for finish coats to dry
* very messy and can smell
* trims can be stained to match planks
* planks are sanded smooth and flat
* generally solid wood planks
* costs more to install
* less costly for flooring

Pre-finished wood floors should costs less per square foot to install because you don't have all the labour to sand, stain and apply the coats of finish which takes several extra days to finish the job. But unfinished boards should cost less per square foot than pre-finished planks because unfinished planks do not have the added expense of applying the stain and finish at the factory.

Brazilian Cherry Hardwood Flooring

If you want to infuse a sense of the exotic into your home then Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring is the perfect choice for you. You might be surprised to learn that the Brazilian cherry tree is actually not related to the popular American hardwood, Black Cherry. In fact the tree which produces Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring is called the Jatoba and whilst it is found in Brazil, it is also common to Central and South America and the Caribbean.

The Jatoba has another more colloquial and less glamorous name thanks to the pungent seed pods it contains; "stinking toe". However don't let that put you off this deeply rich, warm coloured wood. Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring is a very hard wood making it extremely durable and subsequently very popular among furniture makers and floor manufacturers alike.

At The Ultimate Flooring we have a beautiful example of Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring which provides a stunning backdrop to compliment the decor of any room. Take a look at the e-store for more details and don't hesitate to call us on 020 8948 5611 or email us on sales@theultimateflooring.com.

Solid Oak Hardwood Flooring

At The Ultimate Flooring we supply all types of high quality flooring; from solid oak hardwood flooring, strip flooring and unfinished plank flooring through to more cost effective solutions such as veneer and laminate floors. With more than 15 years experience in the business we will not only provide advice on which floor type suits you, your home and your lifestyle the best (see How To Choose Your Floor for an introduction to this) we will also send our team of professional installers to come and fit your new flooring expertly.

To make things easier for you we have created an online catalogue on our website which we keep updated with the latest styles, colours and finishes of wood. It is possible to order solid oak hardwood flooring through our E-Store. Currently we have a couple of examples of oak flooring showcased on the site (there are plenty more examples in our store, or please feel free to contact us for a chat about what you are looking for) such as the White Oak Lively which is suitable for use as both household flooring and in a commercial setting.

White oak hardwood flooring is a popular choice amongst our customers as it provides a hardwearing, long lasting and beautiful surface. Hailing from North America, China and Europe it offers clean lines, warmth and goes with a wide range of decor choices. Knowing that it comes with a 15-year warranty should give you an idea of the level of quality this particular floor gives you.

This is just one example of our hardwood floors we stock and as with the majority of solid oak flooring it is possible to recreate the freshly laid look by sanding and refinishing the surface. This can be done many times over and because these floors are so hard-wearing they should still give you many, many years of great service.

Wide Plank Wood Flooring

The Ultimate Flooring supply beautiful and elegant wide plank wood flooring as well as a range of restorative accessories and other products. With more than 15 years experience in supplying all types of wood floors to both the retail and wholesale markets you can be confident that our products are of the highest quality and our service, second to none.

Engineered hardwood floors have the look and feel of a solid wood floor but they are actually comprised of a core of either hardwood, plywood or High Density Fibre (HDF) and then a top layer of hardwood glued to the surface - hence the natural looking finish. At the cheaper end of the wood flooring scale, laminate flooring offers a similar solution, however the top surface is not a hardwood veneer; rather it is a photographic representation of the wood grain being imitated.

Engineered hardwood floors can be purchased in pretty much any species of wood and actually can have an advantage over solid hardwood flooring in respect to the fact that the engineered version is less susceptible to damage from moisture and heat, ensuring it provides greater stability over the years. The number of layers in any particular brand of engineered floor can vary between 3 and 7 with more layers providing extra protection against warping, splitting, cupping or swelling.

If you are thinking of installing engineered hardwood floors then why not take a look around the rest of The Ultimate Flooring Company website and don't hesitate to contact us with any queries.

Solid Hardwood Flooring Surrey

Having more than 15 years of experience as suppliers and installers of solid hardwood flooring The Ultimate Flooring Company enjoys a reputation for quality amongst both its trade customers and retail consumers. We stock all major brands in a wide range of wood floor products. In conjunction with this we also supply accessories and restoration products.

The Ultimate Flooring Company are based in Richmond, Surrey but the addition of an online store to our website means you can order solid hardwood flooring from any location in the UK. This allows us to remain competitive and you will always find offers on our hardwood floors.

Solid hardwood flooring comes in three types and each one is available finished or unfinished. Unfinished floors have to be sanded at the job-site and only finished once the installation process is complete. A finished hardwood floor will arrive having already been sanded and finished at the factory, requiring only installation at the job site. The three types of solid hardwood flooring are strip flooring, plank flooring and parquet flooring.

Strip flooring is categorised by the thickness of the wood planks.
